742025 2009-01-27 02:12:00 How to survive a shark attack – a Guide for Aussies
1. Don’t swim in the sea. More than 99% of shark attacks happen in areas with a big mass of water, also known as “the sea” or “oceans”. If you want to know whether it’s an ocean or not, taste the water – sea water is salty
2. Always ensure that you swim with a lot of fat people around you. The chances of you swimming faster than them and getting away is very good.
3. Fiddle around with the other swimmer’s sunblock – add a bit of BBQ sauce
4. Don’t go into the water without a knife. Use this in the event of a visual sighting of a shark to cut the swimmer nearest to you. Swim away as fast as you can.
5. Listen carefully. Every shark attack has a theme song. It goes like this :“da-dam ……..da-dam………da-dam …..”. If it sounds like this : “dadam, dadam, dadam..” you’ve had it and then nothing will work.
6. Lastly, don’t panic when you see a shark. You’re in any case a goner so keep shut and try not to upset a lot of other people and small children on the beach with all your shouting and screaming

7. Lastly don't worry too much about shark attacks - sharks are rarely found where there are salt-water crocs...
