742407 2009-01-27 09:18:00 How much exactly of a rip is this (www.trademe.co.nz) and this (www.trademe.co.nz)? Blam (54)
742408 2009-01-27 09:21:00 Both a rip off in my opinion. That first one especially!

For the first, check prices on Pricespy. It does seem too high though - look on the comments: "Sorry I wouldn't take 10 grand but I would take 12 grand." I don;t think a machine, even that one, is worth $12k.
With the second one, if they had a Core 2 processor and a better graphics card for the same price it might not be such a rip off.

Neither come with a monitor.

And they say "All warranty claims to be directly to the manufacturer." Good luck getting through! :p

And the old "don't buy computers from TradeMe" applies here too.

742409 2009-01-27 09:28:00 Exactly what I thought, but I was wondering...is there someway to take his auction off...if someone bought it they would be waaaaaaaaay ripped off:p Blam (54)

Their loss, not yours.

Sure, sympathy to the poor person who buys it, but they should've done their research first.

742411 2009-01-27 10:04:00 Well, the first one says 'everything', so that includes a ridiculous price. And the second one couldn't even get the pic right - auction says a Cooler Master case but an Antec 1200 is shown. qazwsxokmijn (102)
742412 2009-01-27 17:12:00 Someone should go through the list and get their own figures, then post the lot. See if the idiot replies Myth (110)

The auction also says, "Photo for refence only. The actual product is different."

I presume they can put what they like in the system and you will have no recourse.

742415 2009-01-27 19:34:00 Someone should go through the list and get their own figures, then post the lot. See if the idiot replies Thought thats a good idea - so I did - built it as if getting the parts from Ascent - with the exception of the sound card, and the TV tuner they didn't have - other places did.

using the same Components from Trademe as listed

price from Ascent $11165.95

Just so anyone wants to see how the prices fall - heres the spreadsheet (www.imagef1.net.nz) BUT if someone was going to build a PC with those spec's they would build it them selves.

Edited: Those prices in the spread sheet - I didn't put in the cents on all components. Wholesale prices were not looked at - may do that later.

742416 2009-01-27 20:43:00 $1647 for the case WT?...I think I'm gonna piss myself laughing......oops, I did!.....

I thought Lian Li pushed their luck with pricing...If anybody wanted to buy that awful pimped case, they deserve to be ripped off....

I would prefer a Silverstone or Lian Li any day, understated style does more for me than over the top pimping...
