742995 2009-01-29 08:29:00 Hey all

I have used them via USB at work and at home always had PS/2. Are there any differences?

I just got a PC, before been using laptops, so I am on the market for a pair. I am/was looking at the cheap combo mouse/keyboard Logitech via PS/2.

Thanks heaps.

742996 2009-01-29 08:42:00 no real difference...

as long as your computer has PS2 i see no problem to go that way, in comming years you can expect to see less PS2 and more USB.

742997 2009-01-30 02:09:00 I have USB wireless keyboard, and I can't make selections with it during boot selection screen (yeah, I have XP/Vista dualboot, although XP is deserted now...). The hub was unpowered. That's why I keep a PS/2 keyboard on the case of the computer.

However, I can enter BIOS with the wireless keyboard, and can make changes there. Weird...

742998 2009-01-30 02:48:00 apparently USB uses more CPU cycles than PS/2.
But i doubt it would matter anyway.

Also depending on your mouse, it may not support PS/2 because it may need a high data rate (eg for 'pro' gamer mice with fast update cycles)
