(free would be preferable of course but don't mind paying for the right product).

847177 2010-01-09 01:28:00 I use a small diary and a pen. Not very computer oriented, but effective as each expense can be quickly noted as incurred without firing up the portable PPp (9511)

847179 2010-01-09 01:43:00 I have a 1MB or larger excel file .. I find they are more flexible and b/c you designed it, you know the inside of it.... I have mine via months and I have my own goals .. ie., income and the percentages of what I spend and what I keep etc.. I also have a income and a outgoing ... that I can see the make up of it ... I can track the surplus and deficit over time too... I work with % so that if any figures change .. I can still track myself. ... If I gain a little reward and it's not fair to keep only some of it .. like income, I can just add this nominal figure onto my end figure of surplus / deficit .. as a whole.

You can have line graphs and even pie graphs like what you spend it on .. and have things like shopping, utility etc etc .. depends how much work you put into it.
You can also draw in a benchmarking line that you hope to reach ... and see your actual graph data fluctuate around it ...

847180 2010-01-09 01:55:00 Excel if you have MS Office though I beleive that OpenOffice has there own version of Excel as well.

We use Excel for all our cash monitoring and for us at least, it works very well.

847181 2010-01-09 02:03:00 Just downloaded ace money lite and that seems pretty good at first glance.

I could use excel but I was being lazy and couldnt see the point of going through the process of setting it up, then fine tuning etc if there was a prog out there to save me doing all that.

So what happens if you get new income or an expense?
Does Ace know all this?
