2010-01-08 06:37:00 i just got my vista 7 home premium upgrade in the mail today, i installed it and everything seemed to go alright until i noticed it wasn't connecting to the internet which was fine, i changed a few settings like i always do ( lowering the uac control security level, stopping programs running in the background etc nothing important ) and once i finished that i restarted my newly upgraded PC it started up fine but still no connection, so i restarted again just to make sure. (later realizing i should have just tried re-installing the driver). This time it froze at the windows 7 welcome screen so i pushed the restart button and tried starting windows normally, it froze again so i tried a diagnostic start up ,which took forever, but it stated it could not fix the issues automatically ( or remotely one of the two) so now my PC fails to start and of course i didn't think to make a backup until i had actually started the upgrade and now i have no idea what to do please :help: once again a tremendous effort by Microsoft still making everything a breeze :badpc: am i right? smithinator (15240)

2010-01-08 06:42:00 i cant get past the windows logo screen so the internet thing is the least of my worries why does it keep freezing? smithinator (15240)
2010-01-08 06:43:00 What version of vista did you upgrade from? Speedy Gonzales (78)
2010-01-08 06:48:00 the OS was vista home premium 64 bit and the upgrade is windows 7 home premium 64 bit smithinator (15240)
2010-01-08 06:53:00 Some of the time the upgrade of any OS turns pear shaped - The only safe way to fix it is a complete fresh install. Even MS say upgrading is not always the best idea - basically its like building a house on shaky foundations, unless the original OS is more or less in perfect condition, there WILL be problems someplace and even on a good install upgrades fail regularly. wainuitech (129)
2010-01-08 06:55:00 ok so how do i uninstall it from the BIOS as its the only place i can get to and do i have to ask Microsoft for both my licenses back? smithinator (15240)
2010-01-08 07:05:00 You don't uninstall from the BIOS. Sweep (90)
