| 743932 | 2009-02-03 07:36:00 | you say "they" as if all people driving cars with custom exhausts have the same goals in life They don't have any goals in life . And if they did, most of them wouldn't live long enough to achieve them as they'd likely find themselves wrapped around a lamppost or tree before long . and retarded? a bit harsh considering you most likely dont know any . I did say 'most' and not all . Retarded was being polite . The thrill is the adrenaline that comes with it, not the fact its breakin the law . Breaking the law is an adrenaline rush . Personally i dont skid etc so much now as im sh*t scared il lose my pride and joy . . Never mind your pride and joy . What about someone else's life? And "they" would want to use a dedicated venue, it means they can have fun while not having anyone nuttin off at them or risking fines etc, of course there will be exceptions because there always someone out there tryin to wreck everything for others Apparently they built dedicated venues in Chch but it did nothing to encourage the boy racers to move their antisocial activities off the streets . The public roads are where they want to be because that's where they can gain maximum exposure . It's herd mentality . So and so has a loud exhaust, cool flashing lights, rear spoiler, low profile tyres etc so I'll get one too so I can fit in with the rest of my peer group . On that note - why the obsession with low profile tyres? So 'boy racer' can get away with a few extra ks around that sharp bend? |

Not alot Calling me and others alike retarded is not polite For some breaking the law may be an andrenaline rush but for most the cars behavior is the thrill...You dont see guys shouting out "yeah im breaking the law, give me attention" I cant speak for anyone other than myself on this point but I ALWAYS consider others around me, No matter where I am there is almost always someone else who has just as much right to be there and feel safe and I respect that. Low profile tires mean that bigger wheels can be fitted while keeping the original diameter of the wheel, so the speedo doesnt get messed around |

Otherwise they would be doing their best to get their fix without doing it in the public eye. Fact is there is numerous events even in tiny towns where car enthusiasts can strut their stuff, Check out the local car club. Asking for skid pads and dragstips is just part of the game. |

| 743935 | 2009-02-03 07:55:00 | there is a few events around i admit but none are ever really advertised for whatever reasons maybe all we need to do is make these events easier to find, cos it is a fix thing. i dont know anyone who skids everytime they start there car and goes sideways around every corner |

| 743936 | 2009-02-03 08:08:00 | i dont know anyone who skids everytime they start there car and goes sideways around every corner Then you haven't met my cousin Carl, He was a shocker, still is, Talented stock car driver though. Howled up every single corner, every intersection. flat out down every street. Sheeit we had some fun. God damn I'm a massive hypocrite. You should have seen my XD falcon, we chopped the springs so short she sat on the stops, We widened the rims ourselves, fitted some bald tires, she pulled to the right constantly, hit the brakes and she went hard left, No rego,no warrant, always trying to get away from the cops. I'll stop now...... |

| 743938 | 2009-02-03 08:16:00 | Low profile tires mean that bigger wheels can be fitted while keeping the original diameter of the wheel, so the speedo doesnt get messed around Can't speedos be recalibrated to account for a change in wheel diameter? Other than to look cool, I imagine the real reason for low profile tyres is greater stability in corners (allowing greater cornering speed). They might be great on a racetrack but I would question their suitability and safety on bumpy public roads, often full of potholes. And they're hardly necessary for cruising around town. But I guess it's the trend and herd mentality at work. |

| 743939 | 2009-02-03 08:27:00 | yep they can be but that can be difficult on some cars. And comfort isnt much of a sacrifice when the car feels so much better to drive, most mods actually make the car safer anyway how do you define whats necessary and whats not, is a v8 necessary around town? not really, so shouldnt we use them? |

There were plenty of laws, and we got into plenty of strife. If I had ever killed anyone I wouldn't be bragging about it. A number of people I have known have died in car crashes, Being idiots, a couple have killed passengers, Its ****in horrible. I just went to a mates funeral a couple of weeks back who died on his bike. |
