And whats gonna happen to all the large internet plans... If people aren't downloading torrents WTF are you suppose to do with 50 gigs a month???Thats what I wondered.....surely if the ISPs cut down on illegal downloads they would find their networks have rather less throughput and everyone would just get less expensive plans. Do you think thats a correct take on the situation?

743115 2009-01-31 04:18:00 Big deal if you dont use all the allocated amount - I have 80Gb / Per month and an average usage of 35 -50Gb usage - sure most of that is business related but not all.

Just today I let a mate of mine upload from one of my servers close to 5 Gb of ISO's, repair CD's etc

743116 2009-01-31 21:53:00 i heard on the radio (bbc i think) the other day that they did an analysis and if the isp's add a nominal sum, i think $5 was mentioned, to every account that wanted to download music etc, let them have unlimited access for downloading this would more than cover any monies lost due to no collection of royalties . I think they also talked about having an expiry on the files or something so that if you stopped paying the extra $5 the files expired .

I guess the point is that there a much better ways of dealing with downloading by working together rather than enforcement but at the moment the big record movies studios etc don't seem interested in exploring these options .
