| 846530 | 2010-01-07 10:08:00 | I've helped a mate, who installs security systems/cctv, setup heaps of these. Might be different for the different brands of DVRs but the ones he uses comes with some software to access the DVR and the camera footage (live or recorded.) We have to forward port 5400 (again this may be different for each brand of DVR) on the ADSL router to the DVR. Also setup some form of Dynamic DNS (most ADSL routers have some form of this built in like DynDNS or No-IP) or if they have a static IP then need to know this. Then you just install the DVR software on your PC or where ever and instead of pointing it to a local IP you select the DDNS option and put in the Dynamic DNS or static IP. Put in the password you setup on the DVR and you're in. The DVR software can have more than one site setup in it and you choose which one you want to connect to. My mate also has another version of the DVR software which allows you to connect to more than one site at the same time. |
