745574 2009-02-06 23:42:00 Hi Guys,

We all know that ink cartridges are a big rip off versus the price of a new printer .

But what about electric shavers .

I have a Philips 3 head shaver . I broke one of the blades whilst cleaning it the other day . So I went to buy a new set .

But I was gob smacked when I found they were $ 29 each !

A new shaver (the same model I bought 2 years ago) was $79 . 00 .

On the shaver head they have the cheek to say replace the blades every 2 years . Well 3 heads at $ 29 . 00 comes to $ 87 . 00 which is $8 . 00 more than buying a new shaver !

I realise that retailers like to make good markups on spares and there is a cost of handling them . But surely when mass producing them they could sell a set of 3 for $ 30 . 00 ! (less packaging and less handling)

If you hang on,they will change to your suggestion, now that they know what price
should be.

745576 2009-02-07 00:44:00 Gillette Fusion Power Razor pack of four heads/blades about $22. I can get about 2 weeks from one head. I think the handle part costs about $12. Electric tooth brush replacement head $20.

745579 2009-02-07 07:03:00 Get a cut-throat razor, a 1000 grit stone and a strop - and you'll never pay for anything more than lather again.

Keep it sharp and you won't cut yourself.

Which is the biggest ripoff of the two. Who knows?

In the event you have a printer and you print all the emails and attachments you get for hard copy then it makes sense to me that you may be down buying cartridges for printing on a fortnightly basis.

Grow a beard and you will probably use less in the way of equipment in order to remove hair growth.

Cigarette lighters work quite well as would a dose of napalm for removing unwanted hair.

When it comes to printers you could just read the monitor or screen and write down what you see in the way of text or just copy and paste the bit you want.

Perhaps there should be a pricespy that lists all retailers along with where they buy wholesale and also list all markups from manufacture to end consumer.

We could even think about razor blades are made from steel. One would presume that the iron ore is removed from the ground or alternatively may be made out of recycled rail lines. You could consider using a pocket knife made from good steel and get yourself a whetstone along with some oil or water.

I would think along those lines but there be a hole in my bucket and I can't fetch the water.
