744999 2009-02-05 00:38:00 I have some quite good 512mb DDR400 modules. Do you think I should hang on to them for a bit or sell them soon?

I saw someone trying to sell their RAM on trademe:
"Don't be late, RAM price will raise over 30-50% after Jan 2009."

OK with the exchange rate down, prices are going up of course, but independant of that, what are RAM prices doing/going to do globally?

745000 2009-02-05 00:41:00 Well its past Jan 2009, and none of my vendors have put up prices on RAM.

RAM prices goes up and down like the tides in the Ocean.

EDITED:
BUT just speaking to one of my suppliers and It appears one of the major manufactures of RAM in the World Qumondo ( think thats how you spell it) has gone BUST and closed down. So prices WILL be going up real soon.

Crap.
Retailers such as Noel Leeming, Harvey Norman etc are going to be putting up prices - due to the massive drop in our dollar - but that because they have been selling existing stock until now.

My prices have gone up a bit at a time since xmas.

There are still fluctuations, depending on what the dollar is doing but certainly not 30 or 50%. UNless the dollar goes rapidly down to rock bottom.

RAM does get more expensive once it stops being made, and then becomes hard to find at all. PC133 is in that category now.
DDR 1 is going to soon, but not just yet.

Most traders on TM have no idea what they are talking about.

So now is the time to hang on to big 512mb/1gb DDR 1 modules if you want to make a buck later down the track...?

745005 2009-02-05 01:52:00 Pricespy.co.nz appears down at the moment, however, prices for 512MB are around $10-15 at the moment IIRC, so you wont make much selling now .. you'd have to hold on to them for quite a while before it became worthwhile though, prices probably wont go up *that* much ... Yeah but they aren't $10 or $15 modules, they have 2-3-3-6 timings with nice aluminium heatspreaders on them
