2010-01-12 10:48:00 | Hi, I am with Xnet, currently on their stream plan, 256k/128k cos in the past I got the FS/128k but only achieved 1 . 5-1 . 8Mbit speed hence I downgraded than the pay the full price . That was 3yrs ago, have BB changed? I know the prices for any of the std plans have not changed, the stream, the river and the flood . Not interested in the torrent plan . I need to take care because if I upgrade I cannot downgrade b/c they have discontinued the 256k option . What's thing with ADSL2+ and how I know I can get it? My router is busted re: wireless so if I get one can be a good excuse (when I do) . Cheers .

2010-01-12 10:53:00 | Is Xnet Fusion ADSL2+ or is that naked ADSL? The FAQ at Xnet said for ADSL2+ refer to Fusion. The Fusion page gives no prices and it gives just the suburb which are 2 beside me, I am in the middle of the 2, so dunno if I can get it. | Nomad (952) | |
2010-01-12 10:56:00 | Xnet line tester: UBS (Unbundled Bitstream Service) is available in the exchange area servicing the premises for the line number requested The estimated downstream linerate for this query is 2-4Mbit/s Occasionally, there are factors such as distance from Telecom's equipment which may mean that Xnet HSI is unable to be delivered to a particular site or address .

If you're with the likes of either on an ADSL2+ connection, there's a good chance you'll attain better speeds, depending on what your line sync's at, and exchange congestion. I'm *yet* to see somebody who has worse speeds by switching to an ADSL2+ plan. Overall it's faster, more reliable, and you pretty much always get a better upload speed also. I say go for it ;) Definitely get yourself a nice new modem. Of the free ones supplied, the Orcon "Home Hub" sucks the least. I'd recommend you go out and get yourself a nice shiney NetComm NB6Plus4Wn or something along those lines :) Cheers Chill. |

2010-01-12 19:48:00 | Hi, I am with Xnet, currently on their stream plan, 256k/128k cos in the past I got the FS/128k but only achieved 1 . 5-1 . 8Mbit speed hence I downgraded than the pay the full price . . That's still better than 256k . Xnet has had bad press since the torrent plan came in but I know several people still on it and not having any issues with speed . Or anything else . Orcon, on the other hand seem to be staffed by half wits . My son has had numerous troubles since joining them and usually I have to resort to calling someone I know to get it sorted . And they are all leaving so its getting harder to do . He asked for a breakdown on cellphone calls made from his landline recently and got an email back stating he had no calls from a landline and in fact does not have any services with them at all . He forwarded me the emails and yes he had given theem his correct username etc .

2010-01-12 19:56:00 | You'll only get ADSL2 with Fusion, not the River or flood plan. These do not support ADSL2. Fusion naked ADSL is either $69 for urban customers, or $89 for rural customers. Thats just to get onto it. Depending on how many GB's you want, thats added on to the above | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-01-12 23:08:00 | Yeah, I'm on Fusion with xnet and my speed doubled when Telecom put a cabinet just down the road from me. Was getting 3.0 mbps now on a good day get anything up to 12.0 mbps. LL

2010-01-12 23:10:00 | That's a bit pricey. At the mo I am paying $27 without data. I tend to use 3GB (set cap) tend to be about 10% under most months ... | Nomad (952) | |
2010-01-13 17:28:00 | Unfortunately that's the way the world works ... you want a faster car, you have to pay more for it too ;) | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
