| 847616 | 2010-01-10 10:46:00 | I installed a new 1TB hard drive the other day and everything was going fine until tonight. When playing any game or something, It will randomly just shut-down. No warning, no nothing. The first thing that came to my mind was power supply, but I have a 550 Watt power supply, and I'm not sure a new HDD would take up that much power. So I thought it'd be best to ask. My system is.. Asus P5P43TD Motherboard, Socket 775, 1333MHz FSB, 4xDIMM DDR3, PCIe-16, 3xPCI, 2xPCIe-1, 12xUSB2, Audio, 1xATA, 6xSATA, ATX Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus, 550W ATX PSU, SLI Ready, Black Gigabyte GV-N26OC-896I Video Card, GeForce GTX 260, 896MB, DDR3, PCIe-16, DVI, SLI ready, HDMI Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66 GHz, 1333MHz FSB, Socket 77 Microsoft Windows XP Home SP3, OEM OCZ Platinum Kit, 2x2GB, DDR3-1600, PC3-12800, CL7, DIMM, XTC Heat Spreade Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS Hard Disk Drive, 500GB, 7200rpm, 16MB Cache, SATA-2 Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS Hard Disk Drive, 1000GB, 7200rpm, 32MB Cache, SATA-2 Thanks. Oh damn, just saw the thread underneath me. :S |

| 847623 | 2010-01-10 11:23:00 | I shut that computer down, using the laptop now. Is there any reason that my CPU would randomly just jump to that temperature? Will check the fan now. |

| 847624 | 2010-01-10 11:29:00 | Perhaps you loosened the retaining clips on the HSF assembly when you fitted the hdd, or a cable is touching the fan. | feersumendjinn (64) | ||
| 847625 | 2010-01-10 11:34:00 | One of the little, clipity bobs was loose, pushed it in, now hearing a weird sound, sounds like a cord is hitting a fan somewhere. So checking it out now | Mister (15201) | ||
