847485 2010-01-10 05:27:00 got myself a new mobo, asus p5q pro turbo.

everything worked kinda fine, but I can't put my PC in sleep mode now.

When i try to put it in sleep, the display goes out for about 4 seconds, and then just when you are expecting the cpu fan to go off and everything, it "wakes itself up" again, at this stage the display comes back with the logon screen..

I have win 7 pro 32bit installed, latest BIOS version (0602).

I have also tryed configuring a jumper right next to the cpu to stop it from waking up from a usb mouse or keyboard input, but that didn't help.

everything is in it's original default factory setting, so i have a sneaky feeling that it is something obvious I have missed, some setting in the bios or some jumper settings maybe?

any sort of help will be greatly appreciated, thanks so much.

847486 2010-01-10 05:38:00 Check updates in windowsupdate. See if there's an ACPI, or ATK update. Install it. Have you installed the chipset drivers? Speedy Gonzales (78)
847487 2010-01-10 05:57:00 Hi thanks for the reply speedy.

I have checked windows update, no APCI or ATK updates available, I have also checked the update history, none are APCI or ATK related.

I am pretty sure I have installed the chip set drivers, will check again.

in the BIOS setting, i have set the APCI suspend mode to S1/POS(power on suspend). when I try to put it to sleep, it keep the cpu fan on, but shut down the harddrives.

but when i try to put it in hibernation, it sort of went into it for a split second, then it "rebooted" itself (it looked like an reboot), then a line of text pops up: "resuming windows"....it woke itselp up again....

will set the APCI to S3/STR (suspend to ram) and see what happens...

847488 2010-01-10 06:07:00 Is wake on ring or wake on lan enabled in the BIOS by any chance? Sweep (90)
847489 2010-01-10 06:16:00 umm that is a good question...what is wake on ring first of all?? I ran through all the BIOS setting and couldn't find the above wake on lan, or wake on ring.. :( powerover (12121)

847493 2010-01-16 14:13:00 I had the same problem it appeared to sleep then started straight back up again (on a P5Q Pro board & Win 7 Ultimate x86). Solution:

1. Change to S3 mode only in BIOS (was set to auto)
2. Go into device manager - go to Keyboards/Properties/Power Management and uncheck the box which says 'Allow this device to wake the computer', also do this for Mice and other pointing devices. I have a Keysonic wireless k/b & mouse combo and IMon remote setup so had to do this on both.

Now works just as it should. The IMon remote still wakes the system up from sleep, just need to test if scheduled recordings wake it up as well. BTW I haven't changed any of the other BIOS wake up settings from the default. Obviously I set the Power button to sleep rather than power off in control panel as well.

Hope this helps.
