| 745059 | 2009-02-06 01:20:00 | Criminal defence careers are based on winning cases in general - not just high profile ones. Some good examples are Greg King or Nigel Hampton QC. Their success rates define their careers - they get their clients acquitted. Somebody like Jonathon Eaton - who is not so high profile - has been billing out at a healthy hourly rate for many years because he is damn good. Just getting on TV isn't enough. It doesn't work like that. An acquital does not mean the alledged offender is actually innocent. All an acquital means is that the prosecution failed to come up with enough evidence to convict on the charge or charges laid. A lawyer may be able to get a person of for various reasons. In the event I commited rape, murder or whatever I would own up much like a 15 year old did yesterday. www.nzherald.co.nz |

| 745060 | 2009-02-06 04:40:00 | Your theory was discredited by Dixon's lawyer Barry Hart yesterday. It wasn't my theory - I was repeating what had been said by at least two news media sources. As I suggested, the media is not always to be believed... |

| 745061 | 2009-02-06 04:49:00 | I was going to keep quiet on this one, but, ............. It is about time that lawyers like Hart, Williams and others of their ilk came out and decided on which side of society they stand. Are they on the side of Cicero's "under class", or as I would prefer to say "untermenschen" or "sub-humans", or are they in support of the general law abiding in society. To hear Harts crocodile tears because a sub-human kills himself made me puke. We all die, it is better for some to go sooner rather than later. Look at the Nia Glassie murderers, by any measure sub-humans, the sub-human that beat the Scottish girl Karen Aim to death, Graham Burton another one. |

The lawyer gets to boost his profile and ego through the roof while enjoying constant employment.Last thing he would want was a win.... |

If a doctor treated a convicted rapist for a medical complaint would you ask the same question of them? Everybody has the right to argue their case. It is called natural justice. It is the civilised response to uncivilised behaviour. |

| 745066 | 2009-02-06 09:10:00 | Yes I am serious. A doctor will treat a patient regardless and do his best for that patient, and probably rightly so. To strive to get 'not guilty' verdicts for sub-humans on technicalities under the adversarial system is not comparable at all with doctors ethics. |

Apparently the financial rewards outweigh any minor twinges from a residue of conscience. Doctors are none too saintly either, they habitually take money from sick people. |
