And yes, those pics are what mine looks like

847637 2010-01-11 03:56:00 If the heatsink / fan came with the CPU there shouldnt be anything wrong with it. As long as its in the holes. And its connected to the CPU fan connection on the mobo. The pic I posted is the original heatsink I had for the CPU that was in this. Speedy Gonzales (78)

That's the thing, it's in the holes, and it was going fine until last night. Cleaned everything out and it's still overheating when playing games or something

847639 2010-01-11 04:04:00 Have you tied the cables up YET :badpc: If you havent, now is probably a good time to tie them up. How many fans, are in the case, besides the CPU fan? Speedy Gonzales (78)

Yes, they're tied up.

Uhm, the case fan, Graphics card fan and I guess the PSU fan.

847641 2010-01-11 04:54:00 So your CPU is still at 62*C? Agent_24 (57)
847642 2010-01-11 05:04:00 just wondering seeing as one of the pins was not attached to the motherboard on the cpu heatsink, would the cpu thermal paste have affixed to the cpu right? nedkelly (9059)
847643 2010-01-11 05:11:00 Good point, is there any there and if so, what condition is it in? I would probably take the whole thing off and redo it just to be sure Agent_24 (57)
847644 2010-01-11 05:16:00 Might pay to remove and refit heatsink/fan assembly with fresh thermal paste (may have done what Nedkelly said) see my post #12. feersumendjinn (64)
847645 2010-01-11 05:21:00 Was looking through the thread and was surprised that no one else had suggested it. Only reason I thought of it was my mate had same kind of problem when he forgot to turn one of the locking pins on his cpu cooler. nedkelly (9059)
