Where do I get this real Bamboo?

Grab a chainsaw, drive around to your nearest bamboo hedge, tell the owner you'll tidy it up a bit for free, and you're away laughing.

Just like Bob_d suggested.

That may work if his neighbour had bamboo, but as that is not the case, perhaps you could point him to the dime a dozen site.!

Haven't seen a 3 meter tall Bamboo hedge around here lately.

To save the upheaval ,I think he would prefer to go to the aforementioned dime a dozen site!

745514 2009-02-09 09:04:00 Thanks Cicero,
I'd love to buy real bamboo Here in Christchurch, would be about $350 to transport the sizes I want from Auckland after paying a dime for a dozen for them. But it would create some interesting engineering problems. I am going to use them as the support for a shade sail, put them in the ground by about 3/4 meter and remove them during winter.

Fake Bamboo poles of fiberglass over a 2 inch steel pole would be less hassle to make removable.

Will the top be guyed or freestanding, 2 inch pipe looks OK until the wind gets up :)

A good question,
I've designed it to be free standing with an option of bracing should it need it.
Its in an area that is quite sheltered and it will be removable for winter and serious storms.
