847626 2010-01-10 11:37:00 Is this the PC that had wires all over the place? If it is, tie them up. Thats probably one reason why its hot. And why theyre hitting the fan Speedy Gonzales (78)

847629 2010-01-10 12:22:00 Hrm.. Temp's still rising up to 80'ish..

I'll have a go at cleaning out the dust tomorrow and the cables.
Mister (15201)
847630 2010-01-11 03:07:00 Ok after spending all morning taking everything apart, getting rid of dust, and cleaning the cables up.. Temps are still going crazy.

I think I may need a new CPU fan, but reading through my Mobo manual, I need a special type so it fits.

Or is there something else I should try first?
Mister (15201)
847631 2010-01-11 03:21:00 What do you mean so it fits?? It either fits or you're using the wrong fan Speedy Gonzales (78)
847632 2010-01-11 03:22:00 What do you mean so it fits?? It either fits or wasnt made for it in the first place / you're not using the right fan

The current fan has these pins, I just read the ASUS manual, and it said to make sure that any new fans have those pins. Unless all fans have those pins.
Mister (15201)
847633 2010-01-11 03:29:00 What pins? The 3 pins?? It has to have pins, or it wouldn't spin, once you plug it in. Case fans have 3 pins as well. Or do you mean the pins on the heatsink, where they go into the holes on the mobo? Speedy Gonzales (78)
847634 2010-01-11 03:34:00 Oh, I see, my fault for bad choice of words. I should have said the plugs on the heatsink. Sorry Mister (15201)
847635 2010-01-11 03:45:00 So, youre talking about the pins on the bottom like the 1st pic? If you are, are they secure in the holes on the mobo? Or the pin connection like the 2nd one ? If youre using a socket 775 mobo, thats what the heatsink looks like (or should look like) Speedy Gonzales (78)
