847327 2010-01-12 09:12:00 Can this guy get banned already?

They're either a really useless spam bot or a really annoying human.

I'll also throw Kompozer in as an option.

847328 2010-01-12 09:14:00 This one for free for next 22 hours. Have no idea if it's any good though.

847329 2010-01-14 06:29:00 When Speedy mentioned Google I started to wonder if Google has come up with a website creator so googled, and sure enough there is one called Google Sites. So I logged into Google www.google.com om%2Fsite%2F&service=jotspot&ul=1 and uploaded a website as easy as that. Check it out.

847331 2010-01-14 21:35:00 Do not use Word!

Recently rebuild a site that the owner created with word and it was not fun fishing through the mountain of unneccesary code. Which will eventually cause either you or the viewer headaches.

I suggest Dreamweaver, its alot tidier codewise and also leaves plenty of room for hand coding which is handy when it comes to browser compatibility.

Doesn't the fact the the OP's avatar is a Ford suggest they have bigger problems than just a lack of web design software? :p

The problem is, no matter which software you use, you're going to end up with a bunch of unnecessary, and/or terrible code, if the person creating it has no clue. My point was, if you have Office, you can use Word. It will cost you no extra, and is easy. Hence, it's picked it's two options, and certainly can't be any good ;)

I too use Dreamweaver, it's great, but boy, If I just used the GUI to create everything that code would look tragic!

847332 2010-01-14 21:52:00 I have to agree with you inphinity.

I use MS Publisher to do web sites on a regular basis as I already have Office Pro 2007.

From a purists point of view the code is probably rubbish but in my case it gets the job done.

Also I take care about image sizes and things like that so that dialup users don't have to wait forever which is a sure way to drive people away.

847333 2010-01-15 05:46:00 Sure word and publisher will give you a site, and anyway can build one with it. But eventually you will run into problems and have no choice but to pay someone to look at it. I've been there and it's not fun cleaning up the code to make things work and then having everything undone when the owner decides to alter more things with publisher hueybot3000 (3646)

Word creates such crappy code you are silly to use it when there is something far better in Kompozer which is free.

I'll have to remember that one...

Does anyone know what website creator is free and easy to use ?

If you are expecting to make websites with absolutely no knowledge of HTML, and some kind of program which magically reads your mind.. forget it.

You can get programs that go half way but at some point you're going to have to get your hands dirty, especially when something on your page breaks for no good reason (and it will)

However, this Kompozer program looks pretty good actually...

True but in my case I also make any alterations needed to the sites.
