745376 2009-02-06 01:46:00 Our chainsaw died. :crying

Husband wasted time and $38 replacing its ring. Told him that wouldn't work.

Found a replacement on TM. While he was dithering I bought it with buy now.
A Husky 272XP. 72cc, 20", a bit bigger than the old one.

Can't complain really, the old one lasted 15 years.

Meanwhile while we await its arrival today I have been playing with the log splitter - big meaty chunks of Macrocarpa.
Actually a friend is coming over with his chain saw as some of them were a bit too much for the splitter and it was getting a bit tiresome smacking them free with the splitting axe.

I love the log splitter!

745378 2009-02-06 02:15:00 Having a woodburning fireplace means you get double the warmth for no extra cost. The first time when you cut the firewood and then again when you burn it... :) johcar (6283)
745379 2009-02-06 02:34:00 Chap next door, his chainsaw died,he bought quite a decent one for under$400 from Mitre 10,he has wacked at least 50 trees down with and is very pleased. Cicero (40)
745380 2009-02-06 03:00:00 So this really big Swedish guy goes into a hardware store and asks the salesman if they have any buck saws to cut some trees .

The manager comes over and asks how many trees the fellow wants to clear and the Swede says: "a coupl' hunnerd" .

"Wow" says the manager to the salesman . "Show Oas here the best chain saw we have in the store" .

The salesman brings the saw over - a full 4-foot of tree-eating chainsaw and the big Swede's eyes light up really good!

"Tell me, can this saw work for me like I need it to?" he asks .

"Heck, yeah! Y'a can clear a couple of acres a day with this baby!"

"OK, wrap 'er up and I'll give 'er a go" he says, pulling out his credit card .

About a month later the big Swede is back in the store, looking really sore, tired and worn-out . He is carrying the saw and says that he wants his money back as it's "No damned good" as he puts it .

The manager asks what could possibly be wrong that this - the best saw in the store - cannot do for him . The big Swede says: "She's a-no good 'un at all, I t'ink! I kin only get a couple o' dozen trees felled in a day", and just stares at the manager .

The manager now calls the salesman over and asks him to try the saw right then and there and with that the guy grabs the pull-rope and gives it a good yank . BLAP BLAP-KER BLAP the big saw starts and runs .

"WHAT'S THAT NOISE" says the Swede?

2)Unload ute and Split rings
3)Pick up logs and Stack woodsheds
4)Move it all into the lounge and fill woodbaskets
