2009-02-03 21:32:00 | Why couldn't they just make two versions...like XP:p | Blam (54) | |
2009-02-03 21:39:00 | Why couldn't they just make two versions...like XP:p I thought that too... but remember XP has more than 2 versions... -XP Starter -XP Home -XP Pro -XP Pro x64 -XP Embedded -XP Tablet PC -XP Media Centre = 7 versions! Consumers will only see two versions on store shelves anyway - Home and Pro. Pro includes all off Home's features, just like XP :D

2009-02-03 22:00:00 | news.cnet.com I do wonder what an emerging market is. Perhaps this is the one where people actually pay for the O/S rather than getting a copy from the Internet.

2009-02-04 00:22:00 | Basically the same as vista Windows 7 Starter = Cheap crap lower spec PC's Windows 7 Home Premium = Same as vista premium, will be the general one most people will use. Windows 7 Professional (superset of Home) = Slightly more upmarket to Premium - I can see business's using it since it has Domain join, Remote Desktop host. Windows 7 Enterprise - Volume licensing - no big deal Windows 7 Ultimate - basically the same as Vista Ultimate Most people dont use a lot of the features XP has - Vista & Win 7 will be the same. Heres an example: not many people can tell you what IExpress is in XP.

2009-02-04 01:18:00 | BTW The Home basic and Starter edition's won't be available in developed countries anyways. I'm personally gonna get Ultimate. (If I have enough saved up...hopefully it'll be free or REALLY cheap:p) Blam

2009-02-04 01:29:00 | I'd like to try and land myself a free copy like they did with Vista, by being at a certain store at opening hours ;) There's actually a whole lot more versions of XP technically ... Dell Home OEM, Compaq Home OEM, VLK etc etc The Install CD of each OEM or the Volume Licensing will only work with a specific type of Key: e.g. You cannot use a VLK with regular XP Pro media You cannot use a regular XP Home key with Compaq OEM media So when it boils down to it theres really lots more Not to mention there's x64 / x32 versions of all of the Win7 editions! ;)
