| 847845 | 2010-01-11 03:53:00 | If I buy a gig of ram, but my laptop will only accept 512, will it work at 512 or not at all? NEC Notebook Versa E2000 Maximum Memory 1.2GB Memory Slots 1 (1 bank of 1) non-removable base memory 256MB That is what I meant about it working, it says on the web site that max memory is 1.2 gig, and if I put in a gig and the 256 also works, will the computer still boot up and work, or will it crash it. Just trying to clarify what *I meant. Not sure if I have worded this properly. But if the motherboard, or whatever, only accepts running 1 gig, and the other 256 ram boots for a change, is what I mean about it accepting it. I have a NEC Versa E2000 with 256 non removable ram, and 256 memory stick as well. Running XP Sp3 A few of you have seen my post about my up and down ram, ie, boot mainly at 256, today it has booted at 512, and is great. But I thought of taking out the 256 from under the cover underneath the bottom and putting in a gig ram if I can find one. I have searched and know what sort now. LOL |

| 847848 | 2010-01-13 08:48:00 | It keeps dropping back to 256 so thought I would throw some serious ram at it, as everything I read said it would accept 1.2 gig. But after buying ram, it wouldn't find it, so once again the computer is in at a techie. | supergran (108) | ||
| 847849 | 2010-01-14 02:45:00 | And the techie says where the ram goes into is faulty, basically use it as it is or toss it. | supergran (108) | ||
| 847850 | 2010-01-14 03:07:00 | Faulty in what way ?? If its simply not reading the RAM it may be the wrong type. Some laptops can be real fussy about what RAM will work, and what wont. |
