847578 2010-01-10 10:30:00 If I buy a module of RAM which supports ECC, will it work in my computer if my motherboard/cpu don't support ECC?

I know some motherboards will simply run the ram in non-ecc mode, but does this apply for all motherboards? Are AMD and Intel the same in this regard?

Is this the same with DDR1/DDR2/DDR3???

Also what happens if you mix ECC and non-ECC modules, will they all work inn on-ECC mode or not work at all????

Cheers

847579 2010-01-10 11:01:00 Normally ecc wil be ok in non ecc machine.

mixing ecc, non ecc, ram types is simply begging for trouble at some point.:)
