745846 2009-02-07 22:22:00 Hi everybody .

Reading some of the latest threads set my mind to thinking . . . . . . . . . . . . i try not to do that much :D
All the bad news we see in the papers on the telly, on the internet . . . . . . . . are good media attention? any attention is better than no attention? or negative is better than none?

When people are born id say most mothers want the best for their children?
How we raise them is becoming more of a society job is it not? they are constantly seeing bad programs on telly, bad news everywhere and the struggle to just raise a child to 21 and be happy healthy and fairly law abiding is a miracle sometimes?

Are we raising our children to be the best they can be? Are we raising them to just get through the day? go to work, get paid and then live? or are we raising them to do things we coudnlt do? to fulfil their dreams?

While we were growing up we must of had goals? dreams? aspirations?

Are you where you thought you would be as a teenager? do you have that dream job? House? family? lifestyle? do you manage holidays you really want? or just stay home? are you in a family business? or did you step out on your own and become what you wanted?

How could we enthuse our future children to be the best they can be with what they see on a daily aspect in the news? Im no longer convinced its a money issue, i think its a cycle, familys tend to raise the proressing future families the same way? we raise our families how we were raised?

How can an individual help build a better future, person, family, nation?

While life is really busy for all of us, we get tired just the same, we live a similar lifestyle, how can we step outside these boundaries and force a change with time we dont always have?

In todays world, anyone who is different is desperately mainstreamed by education, they are taught to fit in, sometimes it works, when it doesnt they are caught by the justice system, and end up alienated, and sometimes thaat is why we have jails? mental institutions .

are we doing the best we can?
IS society letting us and them down?

i know this has been said before, but really how can we expect change when we dont change with it?

I think you can worry to much about your kids. SWMBO and I have bought up 2 kids (mid 30's now) and I must admit, we worried about things at times.

Just remember, do your best, trust them, give them lots of love and support, good food, a safe environment and always be there for them.

You can't do any more than that! Just remember to let them go at times!!!

Pretty normal and understandable. My mother for example. She worries too much about the professions I may take when I finish my degree. Coming from an Asian upbringing, my parents would prefer to see me doing some sort of business or computer stuff or biomed that generates the greens.

Telling them I'd rather prefer ecology frightened them. The thought of me working with animals with fangs or feet that squash makes my mother shiver.

She certainly doesn't like my decision but she is supportive of it, and that is all a son wants.

Beetle, I see your point and it's the same one I have been touting for a while now .

No, Beetle, we are NOT where we oughtta be and we have no practical way of ever getting there for the nonce . The world is in survival mode right now and they are all shuffling chairs in their own homes and lives while the Titanic is a-slippin' under by the bow .

What some dismiss as a pendulous/social reiteration of things that have by "nature" been cyclical, these days are truly unique and frustrating at the same time . So - what's the answer?

Well - it might be the NEW MORALITY - which is actually the OLDE IMMORALITY .

Until - and I find this factor impossible to achieve - the world can become moral once more and people cease going for the golden ring just for themselves and practice some humility and faith, then what you see now is just a shadow of the future .

Corruption in politics, agriculture, housing loans, unions, school teachers and religionists have all done their damage by boiling frogs pell-mell . What you see around you is not what you like, and that's a great relief to see in any individual any more .

Right now, observant and intelligent people are disgusted with the price of fuel, taxes, rent, housing, the "Dream" and we don't even have time to smell any roses .

The world is overbuilt, unhealthy and immoral .

People wonder where their next paycheck is coming from and they are trying to feed their children, keep a roof over their heads and still have transportation to work and home again . It's a cycle that they grudgingly repeat day-after-day and if they ever stop and ask themselves: "What's it all about?", they'll drop dead on the spot, choosing that as opposed to going on another day .

No, Beetle, wait until FOOD becomes scarce and your get a better look at the vicious underbelly of society then!

Your "Revelation" is about two or three years behind the mood of what you used to find in the US . Watch the touchstones here and you'll have a better insight as to the fate that is coming to your neighborhood soon .

The death of the US is a bellwether to what's wrong in the rest of the world . Read my lips if you won't listen to my words .

I hate to be on the cutting edge of societal death, but so-be-it .

.

My mother hates animals. Odd considering we are animals...but I digress.
I have 3 cats.
I have owned other types of animals too and feed the garden hedgehogs.

My mother was baffled by my intense loathing of sewing too and horrifed at various jobs I did which were not "girly".

Whatever.........
