Hi All...this is what my computer has. As far as I know the ram is a single DDR stick of 1gb. I asked at Dick Smiths today for the prices of more Ram.I could not give him any more detail than just above & it was about 5 years old. He thought that it would be DDR1!! I could only fit one more 1GB stick.

Is that correct? Thanks PJ

848764 2010-01-14 07:41:00 Here it is (uk.asus.com). It takes DDR2 and up to 4 GB ram. Has 2 slots. So, you could remove that 1 GB and replace it with 2x2GB. If you wanted to. And the BIOS on it is out of date (its up to 0602 as of 4/11/08) Speedy Gonzales (78)

Thanks for that. Can I put a 2GB stick in the other slot? Will a One & a Two work together? Giving me Three GB?

Dont know about the bios, will have to talk to Metla I think. Is it something that I can safely do? PJ

848766 2010-01-14 07:51:00 Should work fine with 2GB and 1GB to make 3GB. Though generally they work fine, different brands and/or speed and CAS latency may make compatibility problems.

No need to update the BIOS, unless if a BIOS update could resolve RAM incompatibility issues that may arise in your case.

848767 2010-01-14 07:51:00 Umm you can put a 1 and 2GB stick in it. Altho it does support dual channel. So, may work better with 2x2GB identical sticks. But thats up to you

Umm yup I would leave the update to Metla. If you've never done it before. Thats if you want to update the BIOS

The different updates for the BIOS are:

M2N-MX SE Plus BIOS 0406
Add item "memory installed size" under BIOS setup.
Fix the system can not run GHOST to recover SATA HDD when booting from SATA CD-ROM.
Fix the system may lead to auto resume when going into sleep mode with PS2 mouse.
Fix the system may hang at POST when using Sempron CPU with Cool'N'Quiet enabled.
Fix 1066MHz memory may run at 800MHz after clearing CMOS.
Fix Memory Current Speed may show error when using using AM2+ CPU & 1066MHz Memory.

M2N-MX SE Plus BIOS 0503
Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: support.asus.com
Fix when using AM2+ 9550 or 9650 CPU, there is incorrect information in "Revision" of "CPU Configuration" in BIOS Setup.
Fix that PS2 mouse can not work without PS2 keyborad under VISTA HOME Basic
Change the CNQ Function default to DISABLE.

M2N-MX SE Plus BIOS 0602
1. Update VBIOS.
2. Fix the screen may become scrambled when running Turbo C.
