848732 2010-01-14 06:08:00 I have a folder with two folders - one named audio_ts and the other, video_ts . I can see nothing in the audio_ts folder .

How do I turn these into an . exe file?

I know how to play them with VLC media player, but I'm trying to set up stuff for the photo club to run on my lappy with the minimum of fuss and chance of things going wrong . . .

As alway, TIA . :)

848733 2010-01-14 06:21:00 You would not change them to an exe file. Movie files are usually .avi, .mpeg and stuff like that. Just wondering why .exe? nedkelly (9059)
848734 2010-01-14 06:24:00 These are folders from a DVD
you should probably convert them to a single movie file
(not a .exe)
this link may help.

Because it runs just with one click on the file on the laptop - no mucking about! :)

848737 2010-01-14 06:36:00 do what KarameaDave suggested and join the movie files together. Or use a program to rip the dvd to your hard drive. As long as it is not illegal to do it to the dvd. nedkelly (9059)

It's a home produced for club competition AV - very mild content! I think on this occasion about the early settlers of Stewart Island.

Yes - ok, I think I get what you are talking about. I'll try again... :)

848739 2010-01-14 07:11:00 Handbrake. :clap R.M. (561)
848740 2010-01-14 07:13:00 create a shortcut to vlc on your desktop (or copy the existing one), rename it to whatever suits
edit the shortcut properties to append the target folder to the end of the command line like so

"c:\program files\VLC\VLC.exe" "c:\users\you\desktop\yourfolder"
You need "" around it if it includes a space.
Double click, fires up vlc & plays the target

OR

drag & drop the folder on your (standard) vlc shortcut

848741 2010-01-16 04:52:00 Use handbrake to crunch it down to a 1-2gB file. I think in theory mpeg-la could sue you for copying it since its mpeg2(.vob) files. But who cares.
