Sorry Deane, but you cant say that, 1)- you are not here constantly monitoring the boards and 2)- you have no idea who is and who isnt Maori. Tell me anyway, as you like to think you have all the answers...... If Maori didnt have any concept of land ownership apart from hunting ground and sacred areas, how do we now have land claims. What proof do we have over any land when there was no documentation in the 1st place. Does Joe Toolongalofa who lives on the East have claim to the West just because he said so?.... I wouldn't trust one as far as I could kick one. |

The general Election once every 3 years is a waste of Tax payers money. We don't really need all those political parties - as far as NZ is concerned. That's why I didn't vote in the last election. |

By the time the Europeans arrived Maori did have a very clear and systematic tradition around land ownership. One missionary observed that there wasn't a valley, tree stump or hill in the country that wasn't clearly the property of an iwi, hapu or whanau. What proof do we have over any land when there was no documentation in the 1st place. None - but then the Torrens title system was only introduced in the 1800s. And anyway, documentation doesn't mean a damn thing unless it's backed up by a system which allows disputes to be settled - ie: the courts etc. Does Joe Toolongalofa who lives on the East have claim to the West just because he said so?.... I wouldn't trust one as far as I could kick one. The process of getting a claim before the Tribunal is extremely rigorous, You can't just rock up and assert something and get a case heard. Any application for a Wai number is subjected to a lot of investigation. |

People usually make personal attacks when they cannot answer a point - or when they just generally lack character. Only a few on here manage to debate things without descending to personal remarks about the person who has disagreed with them - or who dares to have an opinion that is different from the usual. |
