The deal was not made with the Labour Party or the Labour government - it was based on a Waitangi Tribunal recommendation after a long process from which the government of the day was excluded. What I want to know is when do the rest of the New Zealand citizens get monetary re-numeration for all the abuse suffered from the Maori? To what abuse do you refer? |

I know that people who are of the race to which I belong form violent criminal gangs, shave all their hair off, wear National Front regalia, sell drugs and abuse people generally. |

Yeah, I was born there, but I'm of Chinese descent so I fully consider myself Chinese in blood. The Indonesians my family know are all good people. Though Bruce Emery's wife is an Indonesian, I think she is excluded. Though the term 'Indonesians' refer to the natives of Indonesia, most people here from Indonesia are of Chinese descent. I know that people who are of the race to which I belong form violent criminal gangs, shave all their hair off, wear National Front regalia, sell drugs and abuse people generally. It goes back to a founding document that the British Crown signed when they had only a couple of thousand soldiers in New Zealand and needed Maori cooperation to build a colony here. It doesn't matter whether Maori have proportionately more people in jail these days or figure poorly in any other statistical assay. They were promised equality and then treated as second class citizens. Theft is still theft no matter whether 150 years have passed or 1 year has passed. An injustice remains an injustice forever. Any democratic government's mandate is based on honour. That successive New Zealand governments for the last 30 odd years have chosen to honour the Treaty of Waitangi is an example of leadership by the leaders we elect. |
