745987 2009-02-09 07:55:00 i have read it, it wont suit my needs

i was kidding with the best internet, point was im not spending 2.5k

traffic doesnt really matter as most the plans im looking at have unlimited bandwidth

i think il go offshore cos nothing here seems worth it when compared to overseas

But according to your original post you wanted a host in New Zealand did you not?

Why not do your own server?

Do you kid when giving advice?

Do what you want! You did say that you wanted a host in NZ however.
You also said that 400 meg will not cut it.

What exactly are you looking for? 500MB of diskpace is quite a lotof diskspace, and not many websites would use that much diskspace, unless they have lots of photos and videos, which you can host on photo and video sharing websites anyway. There is also no such thing as 'Unlimited' anything. You will find in the hosts terms and conditions that they have clauses in them, that if you cause any slowdown for other users, such as using too much bandwidth, then they can cut you off. Also many of these unlimited hosts will oversell their hosting, so they will cram hundreds, if not thousands of websites onto a low spec server.

745989 2009-02-09 19:11:00 Also many of these unlimited hosts will oversell their hosting, so they will cram hundreds, if not thousands of websites onto a low spec server. That is a very good point, and one that many people don't realise. As you say, there is no such thing as unlimited. What ends up happening, is that high usage users end up hitting CPU limits instead, so there is no way you will actually be able to use say 300GB transfer every month for several dollars per month. Its best to try and estimate your requirements and find a host within your budget that meets those requirements. maccrazy (6741)

745991 2009-02-09 21:55:00 I can personally recommend Codev (codev.co.nz). NZ owned, and hosted in Canada. Uses cPanel too. ubergeek85 (131)

The website doesn't load, which isn't a good sign. I would also far rather host in the US than Canada, as the US has far better connectivity and is also a lot closer. Especially LA. The US would be my second choice after NZ and OZ. I would avoid other countries, inlucing most asian and western europeon countries. A lot of spam comes out of those countries, and their datacentres are often blacklisted, which creates problems with emailing.
