747130 2009-02-13 10:37:00 It's going to be as hard up there as down here to get a parking space shortly.

Of course, there were no satellite collisions until the present government got in. Amateurs.

747131 2009-02-13 11:10:00 I think it's stunning that anything at all collided up there. There's a hell of a lot of space in, umm, space. For the satellites to be in exactly the same place at exactly the same time is remarkable.

What are the changes?

In the event I left to go to work Friday next week at what time should I leave to ensure that I do not die that week due to a collision?

And what are the chances that a person gets dead any time?

And what were the chances that you were influenced by Parents if your personally know who they were so of course you know who they are. Planning on getting DNA evidence or you may prefer not no know.

Had you not noticed that vehicles have collisions and also aircraft collide and it would now appear that a two satellites may have come together. Or should that be a couple or possibly a union. It depends.

If Reader's Digest's sources are anything to go by, then I'm thinking it's actually quite possible. I can't remember much of what was said, or which issue it was, but they did say that there is only so much space of space around the earth that can be used and it is actually full of many orbits and satellites. Apparently it would surprise us how much man-made things are up there.

747133 2009-02-13 11:13:00 Whatever. It would have been one of the quietest collisions on record. R2x1 (4628)

Sweep, I think you should start filling exercise books with this stuff, in pencil, in tiny tiny handwriting...

You can think what you like. In the event I was actually stupid enough to carry out your suggestion then what would I do with the resultant books?

Possibly I could put them in a small orifice in your body or mine as the case may be but I do not believe that would do either of us any good.

I would like to challenge you to a debate over Law, Justice and morality and in fact my next off topic thread will do just that.

We should let all other Members of PressF1 butt in from time to time and all PressF1 members become part of the process.

Was that because there was no one there to hear it - like a tree in the forest??

747138 2009-02-14 05:49:00 Sigh, it's gonna get worse. And at an exponential rate.

Those thousands of satellite fragments vastly increase the chances of another satellite suffering very substantial damage, with the resultant fragments 'seeding' the chances of yet another satellite being fragmented.

Seriously, NASA is gonna have to launch some kind of space-junk sweeping technology, or vaporize the bits with a laser from earth sooner or later, or our entire communication and navigation systems will eventually be crippled... heh, and the USA sure doesn't want to lose the advantage of their military satellites. Once they start to fall victim you'll see some action taken!

We're following a typical pattern of what we've done on land and sea... just abandon and scatter our debris without a second thought. Sooner or later the mess becomes problematic.
