| 745839 | 2009-02-08 20:03:00 | mitsi's are ****. Their cyclone engines were renown for their oil consumption, even from new. Agreed they were horrible. They didin't know what torque was that's for sure. This is what I do to mitsis with cyclone engines. :p |

You can't praise the whole american car industry, based on two engines that probably the only reason their are any good was purely out of luck and not design |

I always facied a Shelby Cobra, but the fact is,the yanks have no idea how to make a car go round corners! Chapman achieved his greatest fame in the U.S. by forcing the rear-engined concept on the technologically stagnant Indianapolis 500. Dan Gurney was the one who, after seeing the Lotus 25, persuaded Chapman that Indy would be worth a look. That look revealed, to Chapman's glee, an obscene amount of money that, considering the competition, looked ripe for picking. Gurney set up a deal between Ford and Chapman, and Clark did indeed nearly take the prize on the first try in 1963 in a controversial finish. The Lotus-Ford missed again in 1964, but by its 1965 victory the majority of the cars in the field were rear-engined. There was no great pioneering in the first Lotus Indy cars, not even the engine placement since Brabham had been there and done that. The Lotus 29's combination of many 25 features plus a solid big block Ford engine was so far ahead of the traditional roadsters that it made the whole thing akin to shooting fish in a barrel. Lotus did break new ground in 1968 with a turbine powered car. It showed such promise in that race that turbine cars were promptly banned by USAC. |

| 745843 | 2009-02-09 04:18:00 | An update on this. The oil has been given back but I am now told that the person has not had it serviced at all. She takes it down to get a WOF once every six months which of course would not include an oil change or a top up. So she has elected to give the oil to another person which is fine by me. I most likely will not hear the car come to a halt from my place but I guess it will stop sometime. Oh. A further update as of me making a phone call. The person who gave me this info is my Ex and she is in regular contact with the person who owns the Honda car. My ex found the dipstick and it was pulled out only to discover the oil is on low and looks very black. |

Do not even mention all this stuff as an eight year old female could become the next racer on New Zealand roads. I for one would not like to share the roads with people who should be on a track and doing Formula 1 rather than PressF1. |

| 745845 | 2009-02-09 06:03:00 | Yank engines are all crap except Ford they are just large capacity to get the power. The Italians could make an engine that is half the size with the same power. Mitsi have made crap engines while the rest of the jap engine manufacturers are sweet. Oil and filter changes are the key to long engine life you wouldnt want to go further than 10,000k without changing. They say it should be changed on a time scale but the oil is millions of years old cant see a problem unless there is condensation. People rave on about types of oil but with the exception of synthetic it all comes out of the ground. The Ford Model A engine had a long life and it didnt even come out standard with an oil filter just a bit of whitebait net looking stuff over the oil pump pickup. I wonder if the japs weather their engine blocks and heads or maybe it isnt a prob on ally blocks. |
