The WOL does work over the internet, I have a mate that does it all the time - not to sure how hes set it up, but I found This article ( Of course the PC has to be configured to do it, so if its not configured now, then it has to be manually turned on. Also Found this (http:) OR simply leave it running 24/7 Hell I have ( counting) 4 PC's here, never turned off. Edited: only 1 has a monitor, and thats turned on only when needed. |

Also Found this (http:) I used to have a WoL set up, but for security reasons set it up in a more complicated way. Basically I would issue a WoL command using my router, rather than doing it over the internet as such. Basically to turn on my PC, I would: 1) SSH to my router 2) Tunnel a local port to access the Web UI on the router 3) Use the WebUI to trigger a WoL command which would wake up my PC 4) Tunnel another port through to do RDP Note that your motherboard (+ BIOS) and network card all need to support WoL, otherwise it won't work. |
