There are 2 user accounts created, User X - administrator and User Y - Standard .

In user account Y (standard ac type), everytime when I launch and sign in to Winodws Live Messenger, it tries to install MSTCRT.msi with the following error:

" The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable, click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package. .."

When I cencelled this installation process, it signs in OK though. It's annoying that I have to click the cancel button to close the installation window everytime.

No problem signing in when I log in to user X account. Have changed the user (Y) account type to administrator but this doesn't help in stopping the above installtion error message.

What is the story here? Any clue?

Cheers

848673 2010-01-14 05:05:00 Is there a previous version of messenger installed? Is there is, uninstall it first Speedy Gonzales (78)
848674 2010-01-14 06:56:00 Uninstalled Live and reinstalled but some error pops up.

Could it be virus/malware?

848675 2010-01-14 07:03:00 Havent got a clue. I dont use MSN on this. Try uninstalling it then use ccleaner to remove the temp files, then install it again Speedy Gonzales (78)
848676 2010-01-14 07:19:00 Sorry, the installation package should be: "MSTPCRT.MSI" not "MSTCRT.MSI" .

When I go to the 'uninstal' program window, there is an item called 'MSTPCRT', is this a Windows 7 progam?

848677 2010-01-14 08:27:00 Thats a good question. I cant find anything about it. It maybe a windows installer file for office? Speedy Gonzales (78)
848678 2010-01-14 08:46:00 I just searched for MSTPCRT on my Win 7 64 pro with Office 2007 installed. No file found but I don't use Windows live if that helps anyone. Sweep (90)
848679 2010-01-14 21:24:00 Problem sorted:

Deleted user Y , created another user account , renamed it to Y .

Everything works sweet-as.
