748550 2009-02-17 05:28:00 We are looking at swapping from sky to freeview without having to upgrade our ageing warehouse TV, I can't justify to SWMBO at the moment to allow me to build media centre PC so want advice on a good set top decoder for now that I can plug into a media PC later on, just wondering what others are using and how they find them. We will be connecting through the old sky dish not the UHF aerial as UHF freeview is not available we are too close under the Grampians.

:thanks

748552 2009-02-17 07:05:00 Anything will do - just make sure it's Sky dish compatible (ie doesn't only support UHF).

Don't waste your money on a HD one though, yet.

748554 2009-02-17 11:46:00 There is NO UHF Freeview from the Grampians. I don't know of anyone in Nelson getting it from Wellington either.

Try dtvforum.co.nz for some info on Satellite Freeview receivers.

Guess I should post the link I forgot last night here (www.trademe.co.nz)> i thinking this would be fine to connect to our older TV as we already have a sky box hooked up that is going soon

748556 2009-02-17 20:04:00 I bought a cheap one off trademe.
Seems to work ok.
The trick is to get it pointing in exactly the right direction
Check out the freeview forums, heaps of info there.
