748194 2009-02-15 04:19:00 Hi guys,

Ok so Iv got an LG 42pg20r 42" Plasma. Up until now, all has been fine, but all of a sudden, when I hit "Input" on the remote, I can no longer choose either HDMI port?!

Usually when I press "Input", I get the options of

TV
AV
Component 1
Component 2
HDMI/DVI 1
HDMI 2
RGB PC

But now, its all the above minus the HDMI's. Iv tried everything in the menus that I can think of, and really cant be bothered taking it off the wall and boxing it up for return!

Any ideas appreciated...

748195 2009-02-15 04:54:00 have you anything plugged into them? Are they turned on? Got a different cable too try plod (107)
748196 2009-02-15 05:00:00 Try turning it all off at the wall, leave for a couple of minutes then turn back on.

Sometimes HDCP stuffs things up and a cold reboot sometimes works by reseting everything.

748198 2009-02-15 08:18:00 In the menu setup is the an option to disable inputs?
I have seen on some TVs an option where you can set which inputs to show on the list so that you don't have to see ones that you don't have anything plugged into.

748199 2009-02-18 08:47:00 Sorry for the late update, I have tried the following, with no avail..

- Using a different HDMI cable.
- Connecting the PS3 instead of the dvd player (Both are HDMI)
- Leaving the TV unplugged overnight
- Using the "Factory Reset" option in the menu.
- Calling LG, whom had no further ideas other than the above. And apparently my warranty is void - I am not the original owner, warranties are non transferrable, didnt know that!

Is there a chance that somehow the HDMI inputs are cooked, or something similar? I dont have a clue what could have gone wrong with them otherwise.

CYaBro - Cant find anything in the menus that look to disable any of the inputs, thanks anyway.

Any more ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated

748200 2009-02-18 09:22:00 Even if the HDMI sockets somehow became faulty that wouldn't stop them from showing up in the Input menu.

The warranty shouldn't be a problem if you can get the original invoice for it from the person who sold you the TV.

A mate has a 50" LG plasma. If I get a chance I'll go to his place this weekend and have a look at the menu setup and see if I can see anything.

748201 2009-02-19 00:50:00 Damz I don't think the LG TVs have the option to disable AV inputs, as some of the other brands do, anyway you would have to had accessed them in the menu and shut them off. Which I doubt you did.

So that eliminates that.

I sell and install TVs, (hundreds) I know that HDMI problems are rampant on TVs, especially Philips, they are a shocker.

And LG TVs which we sell have a shocking and I mean shocking rate of failure in general.

You will need to send it to a service agent, if it's still under warranty take it back to the store you got it from, and they will get it fixed.

I don't think there's nothing you can do from a DIY point of view to solve this, unless your are a TV tech.

748202 2009-03-04 05:53:00 I have the same plasma TV and I have the EXACt same problem.. Any solutions yet?? HELP!! Miguelito (14622)
748203 2009-03-04 06:15:00 We sold an LG TV 2 weeks ago, 42' LCD customer rang yesterday, TV won't turn on and is making a loud buzzing sound.

Like I said LGs failure rate is extreme.

Don't buy LG TVs period.

Miguelito - welcome to press f1 sorry bout the ads, we all think they su*k too.

Take your TV back and get it repaired, theres nothing as an end user you can do, other than that.

Cheers Rad
