747672 2009-02-14 00:04:00 We have an RC helicopter bought from Japan. It takes a lot of skill to fly it. :D pcuser42 (130)
747673 2009-02-14 00:45:00 Cool I was thinking about getting the Esky v4 for $180 to have a practice with before maybe something from T-rex. Q man (14225)
747674 2009-02-14 01:01:00 Those aren't the ones sold in a small stall inside Sylvia Park are they? bob_doe_nz (92)
747675 2009-02-14 05:25:00 E-sky are pretty good value, and the co-axial ones are less humbling to learn on. They will not handle wind you can feel until you have practised a fair bit.
X-treme blades are pleasantly durable. (Available in Pukekohe too.)

Lots and lots of practice with hours of battery recharging in between. I'm surprised that the life of the batteries is not much better. Two batteries are better as you can change them and still remember what you did that made it fall out of the sky! The next day is too late.

As long as you have plenty of spare time.

747677 2009-02-14 10:11:00 Ive thought about it as well, as a kid i remember seeing some old guys playin with them and thought it was pretty impressive stuff. Id break it though, i might get one of those little mini rc choppas hueybot3000 (3646)
747678 2009-02-14 10:16:00 The ultra-mini choppers are in a lot of cases not really worth the effort of unwrapping them. The "good" ones require a bit of tweaking and balancing to make them adequate, but they are pretty limited even when performing at their peak. Large or small, helicopters suck bucks in a big way.
Usually good fun though.
