| 849844 | 2010-01-19 03:59:00 | Does anyone else use the JPEG comments to add descriptions to their photos? I don't really like putting descriptions in image viewers or PC photo albums because it means I am stuck with that program to view the comments . What I would really like is for image viewers or photo albums to have an option to display the JPEG comments on the photo when I want to view them . Does anyone know of an image viewing program that does this? |

| 849847 | 2010-01-19 08:41:00 | Hi guys - I've used Exifer for as long as I can remember - does exactly what I understand you are asking . . . . friedemann-schmidt . com/software/exifer/" target="_blank">www . friedemann-schmidt . com Still does exactly what I want, but on looking at the above site, even the very talented chap that wrote it seems to be recommending alternatives! If anyone knows if Irfan View (or maybe Picasa?) can actually EDIT Exif data (rather than just view it) - tell us what you know . . . |

I've only had a very quick look and see that it does indeed show the comments but in a box to the top right of the image being viewed . Maybe I can fiddle with the settings but I was hoping to have the comments viewable directly underneath the image . Neither Irfanview and FastStone image viewers allow EXIF editing as far as I can see . |

Tried adding "<jpeg_comment>" with rather, er, interesting results . :p Maybe it's not possible to do what I want as I emailed FastStone about it a long time ago and got no reply . I am sure it would be a winner if they could do it . |
