2010-01-18 04:12:00 | Hey, I'm pretty new to all this and was just wondering if all of these parts woul all work and stuff. I will use the computer for gaming mostly. | Case | Raidmax Hurricane + PSU 500w (www.ascent.co.nz) | $126.16 | | Motherboard | Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 (www.ascent.co.nz) | $165.77 | | CPU | AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition (www.extremepc.co.nz) | $309.38 | | Video Card | Corsair Value Select VS4GBKIT667D2 (www.ascent.co.nz" Radeon HD 5670[/url] | $219.80 | | RAM | [url="www.ascent.co.nz) | $169.08 | | Disc Drive | Asus DRW-22B2ST (www.ascent.co.nz) | $71.99 | | Hard Drive | Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS (www.ascent.co.nz) | $94.07 | So please tell me if this works, will be extremely grateful. Also tell me if I can get the same sorta specs for a cheaper price, and if there is anything I've missed. Cheers.

2010-01-18 04:29:00 | umm for that sort of $$ I would be seriously looking at Intel I5 750 on the 1156 platform as well. You have your video card link a bit mixed up there :P Also what are you using the rig for?

2010-01-18 04:34:00 | Well, this was the maximum I would spend. Would definitely spend less if possible use mostly for gaming but sometimes video and image editing. I'm not really sure about all the parts and that but would be happy if I could make a good make with less than $1000. Of course for $1000 it wouldn't have to be as good as this, just basically a moderately fast and good computer.

2010-01-18 05:25:00 | What games do you plan to play? By knowing such you can research effectively to find a graphics card that would last a bit longer than a few months. Oppsss... I recommended a card that wouldn't fit that board! LOL.. Heh. Edited.

2010-01-18 06:41:00 | Id also recommend going i5, but if you stick with what you've got swap the psu for a brand like enermax. Raidmax is just asking for problems in the future. | hueybot3000 (3646) | |
2010-01-18 06:47:00 | Urban.Pacman, if you want a gaming rig for the latest games, your MUCH better off lowering the CPU a little and bumping up the graphics card as high as you can afford. A Radeon 5770 you can pick up for under $290 ish And lower the CPU to a AMD x3 for around $195 ish Far less of a bottleneck than a higher end cpu and a nasty video card.
