2010-01-18 02:13:00 | Could someone help me discern the codes given on the BSOD: Stop: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0X804F129C, 0XB9CF5738, 0XB9CF5434) The BSOD appeared when I was doing a repair reinstall. I have previously done a hard drive and ram diagnostics: both passed

2010-01-18 02:23:00 | What was the reason for doing a repair install ? Assume its XP ? Was there any other part to the message, Eg: after the brackets --SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED or IRQ_NOT_EQUAL_TO etc ? Most BSOD are driver or hardware failure related.

2010-01-18 02:28:00 | 7E is pretty much a driver or system service failing to load, possibly due to hardware issues. What prompted the need for a repair install? Perhaps some underlying issues. | inphinity (7274) | |

2010-01-18 02:33:00 | C Stop: 0X0000007E The BSOD appeared when I was doing a repair reinstall. You would have had a later SP on it originally than the disk you are using for the repair install and it's replaced something with an older version. Use an updated XP disk.

2010-01-18 06:17:00 | Sometimes if a drive/OS has had bad infections, or is to badly damaged, its safer to wipe the drive and start again from a fresh install. Hopefully you will have made a backup / cloned the persons drive/data, unless they have their own backups. Just to check, have you got another drive you can do a fresh install on to make sure it is simply a badly damaged OS and not a connection problem.

2010-01-18 07:15:00 | Just a thought - try changing to another optical drive - I had a strange one a few weeks back late last year, it was something going on with the Optical drive and it would stop the install part way through. | wainuitech (129) | |
