I am intending to transfer it to DVD, but there is an annoying hum on the tape, that I would like to have removed. I suspect that it is a noisy flourescent fitting close to the camera. | 849155 | 2010-01-16 03:04:00 | I've wasted quite a bit of time with audio filters in the past when I converted my LPs to MP3. The reality for me was that whatever filter I used, it left the rest of the audio kinda flat and lifeless, and was best left with the original hiss. |

| 849157 | 2010-01-16 04:39:00 | Hi Its quite likely that the noise has a broad spectrum of harmonics This means that simply putting an EQ at 50hz - 80db will only remove one of the many components of the noise. Some audio editors have a mains hum filter inbuilt-adobe audition does from memory. It will probably reduce the sound quality, but this depends entirely on the recording and how sharp/accurate the filters are. You can also select the noise,sample it,and audition can remove this noise. |

| 849159 | 2010-01-17 10:06:00 | Hi BruceM For want of a better suggestion, FORMAT FACTORY (http://www.formatoz.com/) will split out the audio from the video. It's free. However, as we found out recently it also installs a Trogan along with the program. This trogan is easy to get rid of and removal does not stop Format Factory working. Please read this post (pressf1.co.nz)before downloading for instructions on how to make the program safe. If you have Nero installed, you might be able to access Wave Edit. This an excellent sound editor and has a built in Hum Filter Hope this helps BURNZEE |
