| 748046 | 2009-02-15 22:03:00 | Cross out numbers 12 & 17 and we find you much like us! :banana Ken About the metrics conversion thing: C'mon! Who in his right mind came up with selling things in units of 3 . 79 Liters and . 45 KG anyway??? Gallons and pounds at least come in whole numbers! Use the HMS system that makes sense and you can get along pretty well with the rest of the world . A king's nose in the US = base unit 1 . In NZ it's prolly = . 335 M&Ms . Isolationism, by using such arcane units of measure - will keep you out of the world financially and socially and you'll have to stay on your upended tectonic plate, hoping that the whios, moas and keas don't all fly to the same side of the island and tip you over . |

If someone can explain in practical, sensible terms why the pascal was selected as a base unit, they will be the first. As far as metrics go, counting to ten is a good idea, the money fits nicely, temperature is useful, but as for the rest, I hope that like hula-hoops, it is just a passing fad. |

| 748053 | 2009-02-16 05:50:00 | What happened to the Tipton Kangaroo rat? I seem to remember being taken and shown a patch of bush up near Bakersfield that millions had been spent on and being told of one farmer there being prosecuted for running over one on his tractor then being driven around the corner to see dozens of the little buggers that had been run over by cars. Then there was the Spotted owl. How much did that cost to 'protect' I too love animals insects and any other creepy crawleys but some times the greenies get a bit out of hand dont you think? |

| 748055 | 2009-02-16 06:29:00 | 14) You have comedic sports that are of no practical or redeeming value - just like here. American football doesn't even use a round ball and most players never get to touch it 16) You drink cold beer. That stuff in stubbies is not beer it's beer flavoured water. 17) If I try REAL hard, I bet I can convert you to our system of measurements and volume. Wish we could adopt back to English Imperial not American Imperial big difference  |
