748279 2009-02-16 02:38:00 A while back I posted about Whacking big power tools.
While using the neighbours log splitter it died.
It was old...........but...........

And our Husky died, it needs a new cylinder and piston kit ($619).

So not having $619 handy we bought another off Trademe.

"5 HP Husqvarna 272 XP chainsaw. Strong, tidy, reliable, easy starter and excellent runner. Recent service by agent. Near new 20" bar and 2 65% good chains. $375 + Courier"

It arrived. Its stuffed. Cracked case, carb adjust controls stuffed, won't start.

Also Sky died on Staurday, we can expect a tech Tuesday at the earliest.

Not our week.

748280 2009-02-16 02:56:00 That's why I never buy off the internet. Lies and more lies.

Sorry for your plight - if I could afford it I'd send you my Poulon or Husqvarna 24-inchers.

748281 2009-02-16 03:00:00 Sorry to hear.

I have brought many things off the net and have yet to be ripped off. There are still plenty of decent and honest people around.

748285 2009-02-16 04:56:00 Don't lend a chainsaw either. You will get a much older one back. R2x1 (4628)
748286 2009-02-16 05:02:00 Dad said 3 things you dont lend

1. Rifle
2. Chain Saw
3. Wife

I bought a Taiwanese chainsaw last year from Mega Mitre 10 for $258 for 1 job. Its still going strong, dont care if it dies now more than got my monies worth from it cutting windfall trees on my place after storm last winter.

748288 2009-02-16 05:14:00 I think its more bad luck than anything else I would buy a second hand Stihil, Husqvarna
Shindawa from Trademe.
Best test is hold it by the starter cord if it falls to the ground its probaly rooted lack of compresssion mainly crank seals gone.
