849795 2010-01-19 01:28:00 Our server, which has been working fine has suddenly stopped responding to rdp requests, restarts dont seem to help. Any ideas on how to resolve this? aidanmaz (7180)
849796 2010-01-19 01:55:00 Service running? FAB (6923)
849797 2010-01-19 02:01:00 Port 3389 still open on router? If you are trying to connect remotely that is :D

Edit: Also check that the option is still ticked to allow remote connections in the System Properties - Remote tab.

849798 2010-01-19 02:14:00 Service is running, checkbox is checked to allow connections, rdp port is open on the router, restarted server 4 times, still no change i can ping, access shares and such via dns, and IP aidanmaz (7180)
849799 2010-01-19 02:18:00 Does it work locally on the network? That will narrow it down - if it works then it's a setting in the router (most likely). If it doesn't then it's possibly the server. Are you going straight to the IP address or a dyndns account?

What's changed since it was working?

849800 2010-01-19 02:18:00 What updates have you installed, what AD groups have been modified? SolMiester (139)
849801 2010-01-19 02:23:00 we have a static external IP. internally we use 192.168.1.x/24 network, i cant rdp to the local IP or the external, nor can i use dns names to rdp. We dont currently have a domain yet. the only account used has worked in the past, and has full access, and is part of the rdp group. I have havent installed any updates in the last two weeks, and it was working last weekend. (to my knowledge) aidanmaz (7180)
849802 2010-01-19 02:26:00 Is there a screen, keyboard & mouse connected to the server?
Can you see what it is actually doing? Can you log in to the physical machine?
RDP service is one of the last services to start after a restart so it may be having issues before it gets to even start the RDP service.

Edit: just read your other post so you probably are logging in to the actual machine.
Errors in the event log?

849803 2010-01-19 02:27:00 try disabling it and then restart it and enable nedkelly (9059)
849804 2010-01-19 02:34:00 Yeah i can log in physically, and i usually log into the machine with a rdp console session. I have enabled and disabled the service, restarted, enable and disabled the allow connections in the remote tab and restarted. there are no errors in the event log at all which is puzzling. aidanmaz (7180)
