849349 2010-01-17 02:57:00 Hi there: I have an old Deskjet 845c. Does anyone know of any utility that can monitor the level of ink in a cartridge and report on low ink? Quiet (8950)
849350 2010-01-17 03:00:00 Have you checked the HP site / the drivers? Speedy Gonzales (78)

849356 2010-01-17 06:45:00 So what makes you think that the download from HP in the link above won't work? Did you try it? Sweep (90)
849357 2010-01-17 09:54:00 Sure did. Looks like the Deskjet 845c and HP never ever implemented software means to monitor ink levels. Just the mysterious flashing light on the front which leaves one with a few choices and no warning.

Hence I was wondering if someone out there had some open source or alternative means to keep an eye on things.

849358 2010-01-17 10:29:00 Hmmmm. Strange as I used to have a 690C under Win98SE which gave you an estimate and I currently have a 7260 which does the same under Win7.

I don't have a 845C here to try but I think a mate has one. I can check tomorrow.
