More people = more opportunities, more entertainment, more sales, more people to pay for one PM, more people to pay for 1 army, more people to pay for one motorway from Auckland to Wellington, more, more ! And don't say we don't have enough room ! Singapore has 4 million in the size of lake Taupo and their govt wants to double their population. There are many cities in the world with more than 15 million people. I could go on. But I agree, all the new people cant go to Auckland, it is built in a silly place. |

If the currant lot of 3rd world immigrants that have been coming into NZ over the past 10 years are anything to go by don't expect any 10 lane freeways between Auckland and Wellington expect 10 year waiting lists in your local hospital and the like.. Try and get into a South Auckland hospital these days.. |

I think that's often (not always) the case with people that go - they get in a rut, and get complacent, and think the only way to shake things up is to move. Still, there are a lot of people who move for the right reasons - of those I know, it seems to be older people, who are quite settled in their lives. |

The ones I have known are the ones that are uni qualified, they prefer overseas because it is something different, better climate, more buzz, more action, closer to the rest of the world. Money isn't the most impt factor I think. Ie., commerce graduates - accountants, law, consultants, IT, even restauranteurs, sales .... I think because NZ is smaller, the attraction is always appealing to young people and NZders love to travel. We may be able to dilute it but I think people will continue to flood abroad. |
