Means tested pensions on the horizon?

Can't really see Parliament creating laws that may see MP's not get their hard earned pension.

Some employers have print in the contract which dictates that you leave the Company at age 65 regardless.

Personally I still work and get a pension.

I pay tax on both incomes.

What does a retirement commissioner do anyway?

She says people often choose to keep working for reasons other than the money. She says some just like their jobs, while others enjoy the social contact with colleagues."

She doesn't know but she makes an assumption anyway?
Most people I know who do it do because of the money. Like my mother.

A number of people assume. Some people try to find out.

You read the contract before you sign it I hope.

Much like EULAs before you install the software. If you do not want to accept then you decline and the software will not be installed.

An employer can put any conditions in a contract over to you to accept as is or decline.

749832 2009-02-21 06:36:00 That's not correct Sweep. Nobody can put any conditions in a contract that is contrary to legislation.
It is currently illegal to discriminate on the basis of age. Subsequently there can be no forced retirement with any consideration to a persons age.
No contract can be enforced that dictates a person retire at any given age.

You are quite correct.

But here we go as to enforcement.
And what has been tested in a Court?

I discriminate most days of my life by buying Brand X instead of Brand Y.
I suspect you do too by getting Avast instead of AVG or vice versa.

But if I am applying for a position in a Company and I am expected to sign a contract which contains a clause that says I have to go at age 65 then I sign or not. When I get to be 65 and the employer asks me to go I can then say I am staying. The employer will simply find another reason for me to go eventually.

If I queryed the contract the employer would simply not hire me as he/she can simply say I have found a person better qualified.

This is the real world.
