749753 2009-02-20 21:15:00 Hi Guys

I am so glad I ditched AVG free anti virus in favour of Avaast.

I just checked out the AVG forum and it is STILL full of new posters saying they can't update their program and definitions.

And the supercillious moderators keep saying uninstall AVG and reinstall it to fix the corrupt files ! And then closing the threads to save any replies from the posters.

It goes to show there are overloads in their servers, and bugs in their program which they have had for 6 months now and have still not fixed !

749754 2009-02-20 21:28:00 Funny you say that - last year a customer of mine was saying, her daughter BROUGHT AVG thinking it would be better than the free one.

She had nothing but troubles with it - from what she said, she tried calling them, FINALLY got hold of someone, complained about it not working and since it was the paid version where was the support.

According to her, the people at AVG simply said

"so what do you want us to do about it - if its not working it must be your computer"

Great support.

Ring them if something goes wrong, its your computer

I know its not the computer, it was fine till I rang you

Otherwise, I wouldnt have bothered ringing you

Xnet support used to be good . They probably had to outsource to idiots in order to deal with the increased volume of support calls generated by the torrent plan .

I looked into switching because the internet is always really slow at night, but everyone else is a lot more expensive .

I was surprised to find that Xtra is the second cheapest option for me & I haven't had to fight with them on behalf of customers for a long time, so they must have improved their service . Vodafone is really bad & Telstra are unpredictable - you can get great service one day & horrible service the next .

749758 2009-02-21 00:13:00 I reluctantly went with Telecom late last year - but the couple of times I had to call them (setup issues - PEBKAC stuff), they were very good - despite the American accents (Manilla, I believe) at the other end of the phone.... johcar (6283)
749759 2009-02-21 00:37:00 AVG fine used it for years.Tried AVAST and it was hopeless ended up having to reformat hard drive with the damage it did.
Millions of people use it around the world use no problems, problem is in land of the long white cloud where there is group of pressf1 AVG haters always slinging off about it.
Sure support may be !@#$ what do you expect its free. People shouldn't use free stuff then complain about it.

Thats the reason I went with Xnet it was cheap and what I could afford.

And a LOT faster than dialup (I was with Ihug before this)

And youre right its slow at night, because (IMO their stupid torrent plan), which IMO is a waste of bandwidth. I wonder what will happen now, with this new law. If I were the one of the ISP's, this would be the 1st thing I would kill. (this plan)

I take it you want to bet. Prove it if you please.
"Probably" is only an opinion such as "I guess"
