749535 2009-02-20 02:59:00 Hi Guys

TVNZ have just said that advertising revenue has dropped by $ 30 million since last year, so they have to cut costs by $25,000,000.

They have told their 50 managers to get together and come up with some ways to save money (not necessarily but may be job cuts)

1 How can any company like that have 50 managers ? (there's 40 high paid jobs that can go !)

2 I was always told that you should not cut back on advertising, yet in NZ it seems one of the first things to go eg the Herald's business supplement is a lot thinner than it was this time last year.

3 Is PCWorld Press F1 taking all of their advertising revenue ?

I would say the advertising loss is almost solely due to all of the Finance companies that have gone under, as they used to have lots of finance company adverts advertising during peak time.

749540 2009-02-20 20:50:00 Same with any large company. Sack management and they'd save enormous amounts. pctek (84)
749541 2009-02-21 01:57:00 Was listening to the radio about this and they had the ex tvnz boss (forget his name), he was saying that they must be considering buying in more off shore content and doing less local content. Apparently local content can cost up to 20x more than off shore. They spend approx $100 million / year on local programming. pine-o-cleen (2955)
749542 2009-02-21 02:59:00 Unfortunately buying offshore content means even more American S*&t programs on our screens gary67 (56)
