850867 2010-01-22 06:07:00 Connecting and disconnecting to the internet at least every 5 minutes.

By disconnecting, I mean losing connection to the DSL.

Router:
Thomson ST585 v6

Any suggestions on what I can do/check?

850868 2010-01-22 06:12:00 is there good air flow around the router? nedkelly (9059)
850869 2010-01-22 06:14:00 Yes.

It's perfectly ventilated.
The plugs are also secure and I'v disconnected all other network devices but this P.C.

850871 2010-01-22 07:31:00 My suggestion is to simply replace it. Crap like this happens and there may be minor fixes but its easier and better to just replace it with another unit.

From personal experience I've had a Thompson start doing this along with the following Netgear DG834G router I had (they lasted about 4 years each).

850872 2010-01-22 07:37:00 Yeah, looks like I'm leaving this house soon. So I might buy a router then.

Any recommendations to be able to get the most speed possible?

I don't have the ADSL2+ network available where I am, so something for 7.5 mb/s internet would be great.

850873 2010-01-22 07:50:00 Do you need wireless? The Dynalink RTA1025w is an awesome unit to have. They go on TM usually for around $60. Brand new around $130.

Otherwise there is a non-wireless model brand new for around the same price (RTA1320).

Contrary to what I read regularly my ST 585 hasn't given me any problems for a long time.
Not sure if it helps but it is placed on a little rock slab which keeps it cool. No internet drops at all and I can not remember when I had to restart it the last time.:2cents:
