850240 2010-01-20 18:35:00 I used to have a mobo with 680i LT chipset, and a graphic card which is 250GTS.

I used 3D mark vantage to test it.

this combo produced a cup score of 28376 points: CPU test 1: 772.61 plane/s
, CPU test 2, the physics test: 118.06 step/s

now I have a asus p5q pro turbo, same amount of ram , same cpu, but with a sapphire HD5770, same test, same test settings, CPU test 1 is some where about 980 plane/s, but CPU test 2: 11.5 steps/s??!!!:badpc:

I thought it was a driver issue, so I reinstalled the 3D mark vantage, same thing.

now how do you explain the drop of physics test performance? a drop of 10 times... :badpc: having Nvidia graphics card helped the score because they are Physx capable??, but i thought that was a CPU test.....

3DMark is primarily a graphics benchmarker.
Its also an artificial test program.

More to the point would be the performance you get in your games.
I wouldn't fuss about that.

850242 2010-01-20 21:39:00 It's called a "CPU" test but when you have a Physx-enabled GPU in your system it will use that for physics processing instead of the CPU. That's why you get 10x the score with the Nvidia card. pablo d (15490)

thanks for the reply pablo, that is what I thought and i just want to confirm it...

and yeah pcteck, performance in game is more important than benchmark score, in my own opinion....

in crysis it does perform better than my old 250GTS. :D
