| 749806 | 2009-02-20 23:35:00 | I am referring to hand held portable saws. Thanks for the replies. They do appear to be the same thing, based on different photos I have seen Yes they are. Definitely. As I said before. Skil was the brand that first came into NZ. Ever after that, all handheld circular electric power saws were called "Skilsaws", for want of a name. In the same way that all brands of motorcars are just called "Cars". PJ |

| 749807 | 2009-02-21 00:17:00 | maybe you should leave pedantry to Graham L :p And possibly read a question before giving my opinion. Personally I take the attitude that you need to ask the right question before receiving an answer that suits or not. And you are now accusing Graham L of being a better Pedant than I am? In my opinion it is best to ask a question that gives you the anwer you require. It is not easy to answer a question whithout being given all the facts or even the truth. I also try to comphrehend a post before giving an opinion. This is not always easy. |

| 749808 | 2009-02-21 04:31:00 | Being a pedant myself, since the question clearly related to hand-held "skilsaws" they are definitely identical to hand-held circular saws. What happens in a sawmill is completely irrelevant, but as often as not they also use bandsaws, but neither are hend-held in that environment. Sweep was obfuscating. (also known as taking the p*ss).
